Boya: ‘Campos well placed for 2025’ after signing off current F3 era as fastest

Mari Boya was left satisfied with his and Campos Racing’s work across the final post-season test in Barcelona. The Spanish outfit swept the test with the fastest times on both days around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Boya was the driver to beat on the final day when the track was at its fastest, setting a 1:27.209 to lead Nikola Tsolov in a Campos 1-2 on the final day.
Speaking afterwards, Boya said that it was a hugely positive day for the team beyond what the timing screens read at the end of the session.
“We did many laps today, really happy. We’ve done loads of laps here in the past but the track is always changing considering the temperatures we’ve had.
“But, we’ve always managed to be at the front, I’m really happy to be P1 on the last day of this car and of this era. Really pleased with the team and now we’re just waiting to find out a bit more about the new car for next year.

“We had some tasks to do in these tests, some things we wanted to try to be sure that when we test with the new car, the things we’ll be trying will be worth it.”
While the team was quickest over a flying lap, Campos were satisfied with their work in preparation for next season and the introduction of the F3 2025 car.
Boya was pleased that the team were able to accomplish what they did with the conditions across both the Jerez and Barcelona tests being unusually unpredictable.
He added that it bodes well for next year that the team were able to keep on top of things through all of the tests they were working on.
“The rest was just about us driving, the track kept changing a lot and today, we were nearly one second faster than yesterday.
“You can imagine how different it is. So, we had to keep adapting, but it’s always good to know what to do in all situations. We need to be able to adapt quickly in F3.
“In the morning, we tried to start at the maximum. We did a fresh tyre run, each lapping with a new tyre and with two sets.
“Then we had to do some tests we wanted to try and develop and then this afternoon, we were just doing long runs, completely the opposite approach to the morning.

“It’s always useful as we want to win races, so it’s good to start on the front foot and then we have the pace to win races. That’s what we need to work on still and keep improving.”
Looking ahead, Boya says he’ll be waiting for a return to competitive racing in 2025 and a brand-new era for Formula 3.
Ahead of the F3 campaign kicking off in Melbourne, the Campos driver says he will be spending time with family and friends and working on maintaining his fitness before F3 returns.
“I’ll be training, maybe not too much but I’ll be doing some cardio to keep my weight down. For me it’s hard as I’ll spend time with family and friends which is important.
“Maybe I’ll do some simulator and then just wait until the off season is done.”
