"WHO SENT YOU TO ME? GOD HIMSELF?"
-Giacomo Puccini
This is an original January 8, 1914 hand written letter from the great tenor, Enrico Caruso (1873-1921). While performing in New York he would always stay at the Knickerbocker Hotel in mid-town. This beautiful letter was done on Knickerbocker stationary. The letter is addressing a fan that he was too busy to meet for for a sitting. It is boldly signed by the singer. His signature alone measures 5 inches long. To the left of the letter is a very stoic portrait of the great tenor. The reverse side of the frame in the bottom right hand corner reads "Caruso, Enrico. The Great Singer. Orig Auto Let. 1 p., 4 t?? January 8, 1914. Framed with a rare autograph."
This item was framed decades ago and has not been tampered with. My photos were taken without removing the glass or the backing The letter as shown measures 8 x 10 inches. The photo measures 7 x 9 inches. Overall the frame is approximately 20.5 x 14.5 inches.
Please email me with any questions. This item along with 19th century Soprano Jenny Lind and actors Sir Henry Elliot and Dame Ellen Terry came from the same person. First time offered. This item has been reviewed by JSA and the certification will accompany the letter.
