    Description

Featured is a pair of European buckle clips crafted in cut steel that glimmers a mimic to a jeweled look of marcasites housed in its original cardboard box, with an inside label - Tresors D'Art" (S.A.) -  Koningsplein 3  - Amsterdam. Koningspelein is a marketplace in Amsterdam upon research. The box has wear to the paper lining around the edges, some loss on the topside with more on the bottom, as well as the back of the housing unit from friction opening. Also inside, the box shows its age - the lining material appears to be satin (or silk) and velvet. The velvet lining has quite a bit of blackish discoloration from contact wear where the buckles rest.
The decorative, rectangular buckles are in very good condition - no nicks, discoloration or rust to the steel (they appear seldom used or possibly new old stock). On the backside, each has three layers of material - first, a satin, then another material I was unable to identify, and lastly a leather patch nearest the steel. There are no images provided to show the entire backside without removing the materials. An image was captured to show the narrow vertical metal spine of the piece as well as imaging some verdigris found underneath (note both buckles on each side have some degree of verdigris present). Some images were taken with a ruler to give a visual idea as to the buckles' size; yet, the exact measurements are 2 1/2 by 2 inches. The country of manufacturer is unknown - perhaps in Amsterdam from where they were purchased, possibly France or another European country. Presently, the buckles are in very good condition, especially the glimmering steel cut design and overall shape for its distant past. The pictures are part of the description. Your inquires are welcome.
