Description
You are bidding on RARE SEPIA photograph (6-1/2" x 9") matted on (9-3/4" x 12-1/2") board of FERRUCCIO BUSONI (1866-1924), Italian composer, pianist and conductor inscribed and signed by his wife GERDA BUSONI (1862-1956) who he married in 1890, Moscow. Weiss's study with Busoni began in 1914.The SEPIA photograph is believed to have been placed on Busoni's apartment piano in New York City.

The inscription is to pianist, EDWARD WEISS (1892-1984), American pianist who began his study with Busoni in 1914, followed him to USA in 1915 and later returned with him to Europe.
On the reverse of matte in upper left hand corner is imprinted, "M. Schwarzkopf, Kunstlerische, Purinahnam, Aufnahmen in Atelier und eigenen Heim, ZURICH."
The photo has a couple of minute "spots."
Lightly penciled next to Weiss's name is probably the photographer's name.
Edward Weiss performed Bach-Busoni: Klavierkonzert D moll, Busoni: Indian Fantasie fur Klavier und Orchester and Mozart's Klavierkonzert C Dur with Busoni Conducting on October 15, 1921 SINGAKADEMIE (in Berlin).
