    Description

You are bidding on single signed piano recital program (6" x 9") of GUIOMAR NOVAES (1895-1979) Brazilian pianist given at McFarland Hall on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas on November 27, 1926.
The faded program has a crease in middle and both she and her husband have autographed the program in pencil.
Novaes began playing at age 4; at age 14 she beat 400 contestants in Paris, playing Schumann's Carnaval before a panel consisting of Debussy, Faure and Moszkowski, to gain a place at the Conservatory under I. Philipp.
Novaes's husband, Octavio Pinto (1890-1950) was also a student of I. Philipp.
The 1926 program included works of J.S. Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Chopin, DeFalla, Albeniz and her husband's composition, "Children's Scenes."
