Description
Autographed 4 bar musical quotation of the composer's 1947 Piano Concerto op. 13 on one side of a 4" x 6" postcard with an autographed letter on the verso, Prague, January 5, 1948.Štěpán Lucký (1919 - 2006) was a Czech composer
He graduated from high school in Zilina and then studied piano at the Prague Conservatory with Albin Sima and Alois Haba . During World War II he participated in the resistance movement, was arrested and sent to progressively worse concentration camps in Budapest, Ilava, Auschwitz and Buchenwald.
After he was freed by the Allies he completed his studies at the Prague Conservatory master course Jaroslav Řídký . He also studied musicology at Charles University. While he studied, he was a music critic for several magazines. In 1954 he became the head of the Czechoslovak Television's music broadcast . He also lectured on opera television at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague .
He is mainly known as the author of music for film and television. Together with Vladimír Bor, he published a monograph on the composer Václav Trojan .
