    Description

    Three vintage all original very rare and hard to find 1930's Edward Johnson Edoardo Eduardo Di Giovanni DiGiovanni Golden Age Of Opera operatic music signed autographed inscribed photograph and unsigned photos. The photos are from the estate of Dorothy Crowthers who was the Editor-In-Chief Of The Baton magazine of The Institute Of Musical Art Of The Juilliard School Of Music from 1922 to 1932. The authentically signed 1930s photo is a matte sepia style finish 8" by 10" photo with an authentic signature autograph in blue/black ink. It reads "To Dodie, With Love And Devotion From Edoardo - 'Peter Ibbetson' ". The photo shows Johnson in his role in the 1931 Peter Ibbetson opera At The Metropolitan Opera. The authentic real autograph and photo are in excellent condition as pictured. Two 30's one-of-a-kind photos from Dorothy Crowther's personal scrapbook. Crowthers took these photographs herself and captioned each one - "Edward Johnson In Florence, Italy, Just After Being Appointed General Manager" and "Edward Johnson" doing a headstand. The 2 photos are still attached to the scrapbook page. The two 4 3/4" by 3" photos are in excellent near mint condition. Johnson was a Canadian operatic tenor and general manager of the Metropolitan Opera in Manhattan, New York City from 1935 to 1950. I have more photos on auction now and will be listing many other photos from the estate some signed and some unsigned in the near future.
